SQL error -1034 occurs upon attempt to connect
There are several possible causes:
- The database has not been started.
- Configuration of the permissions of several UNIX files and users
are not correct.
You must check the following:
Has the database really been started?
You can use UNIX command "ps -ef | grep ora_" (HP-UX) to display
a number of ORACLE processes when ORACLE is active:
ora_smon_
ora_pmon_
ora_dbwr_
etc.
When the database is active, you should be able to connect to the
database using user ora
