SAP Note 10379 - Settlement of Order/AuC -> KD523 settlement documnt

Symptom

Error message KD523 'Settlement document: Define a number interval' is generated for the settlement of an order or asset under construction.

Cause and prerequisites

Either the controlling area is not assigned to any number range group for settlement,
or no number range interval is defined.

Solution
Maintain the number ranges for settlement documents in Customizing of the overhead cost orders.
You can find the number ranges maintenance in the IMG under Controlling -> Overhead cost controlling -> Overhead cost orders -> Actual postings -> Settlement.
Call function "Maintain number ranges" in the maintenance transaction.
If number range groups already exist, you can assign the 'not assigned' controlling area to a group. To do this, select the number range group chosen with the "Select element" function. Then position the cursor on the controlling area not yet assigned and assign it to the group selected with the "Assign element/group" function.
If no groups exist or no existing group is to be used, a new group can be created via the "Group -> Insert" menu option.
The numbers of the settlement documents are only used internally so that a group can generally be used for as many controlling areas as required.
