SAP Note 25466 - Bills of material: Copy or extend references

Symptom:

References for a bill of material are only displayed for the key date although the text says valid-from date.

Cause and prerequisites
Solution
The items of the reference are transferred into the bill of material to be maintained on the valid-from date of this. The valid-to date is not taken into account. This has the result that the changes in the reference cannot be transferred in one step.
Therefore, it is not useful to display all the items from the valid-from date since this frequently leads to a confusing combination of the "versions" of the reference.
Expressed differently: The transfer of the items of the reference works like the function "New item".
