SAP Note 13040 - Problems from NIS / NIS+: core / connect problems

Symptom:
Error in 'infinst.sh' step "oninit -i".
The diagnosis file /informix//online...log contains:
Assert Failed: Internal Error - Seg. Violation
Cannot wake up idle processor.

OR

Network connect to database failed:
-908: "Attempt to connect to database server ( tcp) failed.

Cause and prerequisites

Problems with the configuration of NIS or NIS+.

Solution

Stop NIS or NIS+.

OR

Configurate NIS or NIS+ in such a way that the inquiry for services, logs, networks first checks the local files, and secondly NIS or NIS+.
