SAP Note 11641 - Can an ORACLE-DB be saved with sysback.

Symptom

Can a database be saved using sysback (inodes).

Cause and prerequisites

Recommendation from IBM

Solution
NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sysbackup with inodes does not read 'empty' blocks.
However, these blocks are formatted in the database and the database needs them. Afterwards, the database is corrupted (if you import the backup again).

It can also happen that the file system (ORACLE data files ) suddenly wants to increase in size.

Key word: sysbackup
