6.12.10

LiSAP Note 11637 - Foreign-lang. menus/scrns: nes empty or in German.

Symptom
      a) When the logon language is other than D (German), several menu (sub)items are missing. A blank line simply appears. However, this can be selected, and subsequent actions work normally.
      b) Screen texts are either not available in the required language or are only partially available.
Cause and prerequisites
      a) Unknown. If the interface came into the system via a transport, see Problem Note 18967.
      b) Either an error occurred during the language import or the text is not yet available in the required language.
Solution

You can enter the translation by hand using the translation tool SE63.

  • Only from Release 2.1E onwards: Make sure that the language where the menus are missing has been entered in table TSKT9 (transaction SM31). If not, enter the missing value(s).
      a) Proceed as follows:
    • Select the transaction with the missing menu items and use "System -> Status" to determine the CUA program name (as of release 3.0C: "Program (GUI)").
Special case: If the sub-menus of "System" and "Help" are affected, this is program MENUSYST.
    • Call transaction SE63, select "Translation -> Short texts -> Interfaces" and enter the program name and the abbreviation for the target language. The source language is D.
    • Click on "Proofread + translate." A table containing all texts in both languages is displayed.
    • You can now maintain the texts in the target language.
    • Once you have saved and deleted the CUA buffer (by entering /$CUA in the Ok code field), the new interface is active.
      b) Proceed as for a).
    • Determine the program name and the number of the screen.
    • Select the path: "Translation -> Short texts -> Screen painter".
    • After translating and saving, you must regenerate the interface: SE51:"Screen -> Generate".
    • Reset the buffers with /$SYNC.
