SAP Note 23450 - RSPROFIL only supports 72 characters per line

Symptom:

After using the ABAP/4 RSPROFIL for maintaining SAP profiles, the system can no longer be started or lines are reduced to 72 characters.

Cause and prerequisites

The SAP editor is used in RSPROFIL which also only supports 72 characters.

Solution
RSPROFIL is actually an inofficial tool which only insufficiently supports the profile maintenance.
If the profile contains lines with more than 72 characters, you have to maintain this profile as before with a "normal" on operating system level.

In Release 3.0, the profile maintenance was completely revised and can then can be made directly from R/3.
