SAP Note 19783 - No actual costs determination in repetitive mfg

Symptom:

In repetitive manufacturing, no costs are calculated during data entry using cost collectors (Transaction MF40, program SAPLBARM).

Cause and prerequisites

1. Unsuitable repetitive manufacturing profile (that is, profile is not suitable for activity confirmation) in the material master record (MRP 3 screen).

2. Incorrect sequence of master data maintenance. For example, the run schedule header was created or a product cost estimate was created or released before a valid repetitive manufacturing profile was entered in the material master record.

3. Creation of the run schedule header before a suitable costing variant was maintained for the actual costs in Transaction OKZ3.

4. Incorrect definition: the formulas used at the work center have not been generated.

Solution

Procedure for creating a run schedule header:

1. Transaction CR04: Check the formulas (Transaction CR02 also possible from Rel. 3.0)

2. Define run schedule profile in Customizing:
Transaction OSP2: order type PKSA (with production cost collector).
Transaction OSP3: activity 2 (standard activity according to planned cost estimate).

3. Transaction MM02: Enter suitable repetitive manufacturing profile in the material master record, MRP 3 screen.

4. Transaction OKZ3: Maintenance of the costing variant for actual costs (for example, PPP3) for the order type of the run schedule header.

5. Carry out and release product cost estimate.
It must be a cost estimate with quantity structure. The cost estimate may not only contain material costs elements but also production activity costs elements according to the routing. Error message RM175 is generated if these activity costs elements are not included.

6. Transaction MF01: Create run schedule header.
If a run schedule header already exists for this period, then the validity period must be combined.

7. Transaction MF40: Enter actual data
Optional: Transaction MF20: Check costs.

Explanation of actual cost calculation of run schedule headers:
The material costs were calculated according to the current BOM explosion at the time of confirmation. The prices go into the actual costs according to the material master determined thereby.
The internal activity allocation is not carried out according to the valid routing but according to the standard cost estimate that was saved in the run schedule header.
