SAP Note 19621 - ArchiveLink: Transaction termination upon display

Symptom:

During the display of archived objects or when storing originals from the scan dialog, a termination occurs. Message "Error from the SAP kernel" and "Error formatting the terminal data - transaction terminated".

Cause and prerequisites

The standard timeout of the SAPGUI for frontend communications (10 sec.) is usually not sufficient for starting ArchiveLink and carrying out the corresponding display/save request.

Solution
You must set variable "saptemu/IPCTimeout" in the SAPTEMU profile. We recommend increasing the timeout to 60 s.
If no separate profile is used for the SAPGUI, make the following entry in the default profile /usr/sap//SYS/profile/DEFAULT.PFL:
saptemu/IPCTimeout = 60
replacing with the name of the R/3 System, e.g. C11.
