SAP Note 19319 - Stck removal strat. part. pallet qty in blck storage

Symptom:

The stock removal strategy 'Partial pallet quantities' (A) does not work as expected in the block storage area.

Cause and prerequisites

The stock removal strategy 'Partial pallet quantities' is not designed for the block storage area. Unfortunately, the document for this area is not very detailed.
In SU-managed block storage areas, there are no partial pallet quantities. In standard block storage areas, partial pallet quantities are the same as partial withdrawals so that the relationship between requested quantity and pallet size is of little importance.
As described in the documentation, strategy A only works for quantities of the same amount (quants) with one (or more) partial pallet quantities. In the block storage area, however, the stock in the storage bin is important, that is, the pallet total in a storage bin and not the individual pallet. If you are now using strategy A in such a warehouse, the system sorts the stocks according to size and then withdraws the oldest stock with the largest or smallest size. Both is generally not useful in the block storage area because (usually) you want a system behavior depending on the pallet quantity and not depending on quants.

Solution
As of 3.0, you can use user exists.
As of 4.0, this is planned for the delivery system.
