SAP Note 25504 - CCMS: Archive not started automatically

Symptom:

Via CCMS (transaction DB13) an archive of the database was scheduled.
At the entered point in time, a background job was started (see Background job logs) but the corresponding database archive was not executed.
In the log file '/home//archive.log' no error message is listed. Indeed, an onarchive request was created, but this request was not executed, that is, it retains the status "NEW" ("onarchive>list/request=*/user=*").

Cause and prerequisites

For the backup scheduled under CCMS, a logical device was used that does not end with the string "_VOP".
As the request generated via CCMS can be started in the so-called "unattended" mode via 'onautovop', only the requests which should be run on a logical DEVICE whose name ends with the string "_VOP" are started.
In other words, the volume set used for a CCMS archive must be defined with a logical device that ends with the character string "_VOP".

Solution
When scheduling an archive via CCMS, a volume set defined for a logical device which ends with "_VOP" must be used (DEVICE_TYPE=..._VOP).
If no such volume set exists, a corresponding one must be created.

Additional key words
