SAP Note 24997 - Function Hold data inactive for master data

Symptom:

The function "Hold data" available under System -> User profile cannot be used for all master data screens.

Cause and prerequisites

The function is deactivated for the master data screens in the standard system. If you have already activated the function once, it can be deactivated again by an upgrade to a higher maintenance level.

Solution

1. Please check the master data screens for which you want to use the function "Hold data". To do this, call transaction "Create fixed asset" (AS01). On the screens in which you want to use the function, call -> System -> Status in the menu and note the screen numbers.

2. Call the transaction "Screen Painter" (SE51). Enter SAPMA02S as the program and the screen numbers that you noted above. Select screen attributes and press the key "Change". Please set the indicator "Hold data". Then generate the screen.

Repeat step 2 for each screen number that you noted.
