SAP Note 22969 - Error message IW028: Required business area

Symptom:

When creating a maintenance order (IW31), error message IW028 is displayed:
'Business area required --> please business area eingeben'.
However, the customer does not use any business areas at all.

Cause and prerequisites

Incorrect Customizing setting}.

Solution
If the customer actually does not want to work with business areas in the company code in question, cancel the required business area as follows in Customzing:
Customizing menu:
Accounting --> Financial accounting --> Accounting --> Environment --> Company code --> Enter global parameters --> Details:
Deactivate the option 'Business area balance sheets' (field name: V_001_B-XGSBE) within the 'Processing parameters'.
Save the settings.
