SAP Note 21512 - Color code of the alert monitor

Symptom:

Question: What is the meaning of the colors on the alert monitor ?

Cause and prerequisites
Solution

The colors denote the current value of a parameter (example: full table scans) relative to the threshold value. Please see Note 16187 for the definition of the threshold value.
The following convention applies:

  • yellow: 0 %
  • green/yellow: between 0 % and 100 %
    The line that separates the two colors specifies the percentage rate.
    If the line is far to the left (predominantly yellow display), the ratio is close to 0 %. Thus, the threshold value is still far off.
    If the line is far to the right (predominantly green display), the ratio is close to 100 %. The threshold value is almost reached.
  • green: 100 %
  • green/red: greater than 100 %
    The ratio of the overall length of the horizontal bar as compared to the green part corresponds to the ratio of the current value to the threshold value. If the threshold value is exceeded by a large amount, the green part may no longer be visible.
  • red: "infinitely great"
    The threshold value is zero and the current value is greater.

The "alert levels" are distinguished as follows:

      a) actual< less green, predominantly yellow
      b) actual predominantly green, less yellow
      c) actual=target -> all green
      d) actual>target -> predominantly green, less red
      e) actual>>target -> less green, predominantly red

As a simple rule, note:
"The more green displayed, the closer you are to the threshold or target value."
