SAP Note 18730 - Changing a bill of material with change number

Symptom:

When you change BOM items with a change number, you have to consider the following:
You cannot change an item at a certain date with different change numbers.
An item that has been created without change number cannot be changed with a change number which has the same valid-from date as the item itself.
However, you can repeatedly change one item with the same change number. In this case, however, the item is not duplicated but the data is overwritten. This is documented with the creation of change documents which record the item changes.
