SAP Note 27324 - Quota arrangement in the planning section

Symptom:

In MRP, order proposals can be created for different sources, production versions, and so on by means of quota arrangement. However, this does not work in the planning section (strategy:planning without final assembly). As a consequence, the quota arrangement only becomes effective if the requirements are 'activated', that is if they are reduced via consumption with net requirements.

This also applies to the long-term planning and the use of the quota arrangement in long-term planning (LTP).

Cause and prerequisites

Reasons:
The planning is executed with aggregated quantities, for example, in weekly or monthly quantities. The sales orders that arrive later have, in general, small requirement quantities, often lot size 1. Therefore, it is generally not useful to use an allocation quota for the planning orders because this would result in an (unrealistic) allocation of the entire monthly quantity of planning for a production version.
Thus no allocation quota arrangement is used in the planning section.

On the other hand, using a splitting quota arrangement can, for example, be useful for the allocation of the planning to different production versions (flag 'Splitting quota' in lot size Customizing [Transaction OMI4]).

In Release 2.2/3.0/3.1, however, the technical prerequisites are missing for this.An allocation of the planning according to splitting quota is only possible in Release 4.5A in the standard system. With the advance correction, this function can also be implemented in Release 4.0A and 4.0B.

Solution
Release 2.2 - 3.1: The quota arrangement cannot be used in planning.
Release 4.0A-4.0B:With the described advance correction, the splitting quota can also be used in the planning.
Release 4.5A: The splitting quota is normally used in the planning.

In general: The allocation quota arrangement is basically not used in the planning.
