SAP Note 22286 - Stock transport order - stock in transit

Symptom:

If you carry out a stock transfer between two plants using a stock transport order via the shipping department, the stock transfer is usually made in two steps:

1. Goods issue for the delivery from unrestricted-use stock of plant 1 into the stock in transit of plant 2

2. Goods receipt for the delivery/purchase order from the stock in transit into the unrestricted-use stock of plant 2.

It is now possible that you want to make a prior period posting from the stock in transit into the unrestricted-use stock of plant 1 (you thus reverse or partially reverse step 1).

However, such a reverse posting is not possible.

Cause and prerequisites

So far, this function is not yet implemented.
As of Release 4.0, you can reverse the goods issue for the delivery with Transaction VL09.

Solution

Until this function is implemented in a future release, proceed as follows:

First you have to post a goods receipt to the unrestricted-use stock of plant 2 for the quantity in question according to step 2).

The prior period posting from plant 2 to plant 1 then can be carried out in two ways:

• again by using a stock transport order

• or simply by using a transfer posting plant to plant with movement type 302.
