SAP Note 21583 - Stat. update of cap. inv. order/WBS el. from asset

Symptom:

When posting the purchase order/acquisition to a fixed asset, the account assignments to investment measures entered in the asset master record (Investment order EAUFN/WBS element POSNR) are not updated statistically.
When posting the purchase order/goods receipt/invoice receipt/ reservations to a fixed asset, the system deletes a manually entered account assignment to investment measure (order or WBS element).
A particular problem with purchase order/purchase order requisition is that no commitments are updated. Therefore, the availability control does not work either.
During settlement of an order or WBS element to an asset (asset under construction), there is no statistical update on the object that was settled.

Other terms

Investment project, account assignment to investment measure, ME21, MR01, KO88, CJ88, ME22, WBS, AuC

Reason and Prerequisites

The possible causes are:

    1. Indicator XCOOBJ for the statistical update of the order/WBS element is not set in Table TABW for the transaction types used.
(Up to and including Release 3.0C, you have to set Indicator XCOPSP for WBS elements).
In this case, the order number/WBS element number is not transferred to the line item.

As of Release 4. 70: The corresponding account assignment object must be active in Customizing and the corresponding transaction type must be assignable to account.

    2. The balance sheet account (reconciliation account) for the APC of the fixed asset (T095-KTANSW) is not set up as a cost element or is not set up for the posting date as a cost element (validity interval of cost element).
    3. The posting is made to an asset under construction (AuC) with line item settlement (Indicator XOPVW). No statistical update is provided for in this case prior to Release 3.0E.
    4. The order to be updated is not entered as an investment order (ANLA-EAUFN) in the asset master but as an internal order (ANLZ-CAUFN) or as a maintenance order (ANLZ-IAUFN).
    5. The field 'Internal order' or 'WBS element' is not set to being ready for input in the field status group of the balance sheet account for APC of the fixed asset.
In this case, the order/WBS element is not copied into the document or it is not shown in the document.
    6. For purchase order/purchase order requisition, the default transaction type that is used internally for "acquisition from goods receipt" (Table TABW, Transaction WE, in the standard system Transaction type 120) is not marked as relevant to the budget (see Point 1).
For the default transaction type, see View V_TABWV.
    7. For purchase order / purchase order requisition / invoice receipt via MM, the field 'order' is hidden for account assignment category A (fixed asset).
    8. For credit memos in the following year, the default transaction type for credit memo in the following year (TABWV, transaction GF, in the standard system transaction type 160) is not marked as relevant to the budget (see Point 1).
For the default transaction type, see view V_TABWD TCode ABGF.
    9. For a mixed fixed asset retirement of current-year acquisitions and prior-year acquisitions, refer to Note 66333.
    10. The preconditions for updating commitments described in Note 47992 are not fulfilled.
    11. Please note that no CO object is statistically updated
  • during the settlement of an order or WBS element to an asset in service or an independent asset under construction
  • during the periodic settlement of an investment measure (an order or WBS element with an investment profile and integrated asset under construction) to the integrated asset under construction.

There is no statistical update in these cases in order to prevent duplication of the costs (actual costs and statistical costs). (Also see Note 79078.)

As of release 4. 5, the CO object is statistically updated when settling to asset, if the transaction type (in general TA 114, 115, 116, 160) is relevant to budget. Various transaction types can be set in FI-AA Customizing for CO settlement of an order / WBS element and for periodic settlement of capital investment measures to AuC so that statistical CO update can be controlled within settlement by means of the transaction types (does not make sense for example when settling a capital investment measure to your own AuC since CO sender and statistical CO recipient would always be identical).

Solution
    1. Set indicator in Table TABW (Transaction OA81)

As of Release 4. 70: Activate the corresponding Account assignment object (EAUFN/internal order or PS_PSP_PNR/PSP element investment project) in FI-AA Customizing and allow the account assignment to the corresponding object. Refer to Note 684659 for further information.

    2. Create cost element using Transaction KA01. As of Release 3.0F, you can create cost elements for all asset balance sheet accounts using report RACKAR00. Pay attention to the validity periods.
As of Release 4.0, this function is also contained in FI-AA Customizing.
    3. If you want to monitor actual assets under construction (that is, fixed assets which cannot be started up and capitalized immediately after an acquisition) as orders or projects in Controlling, you make actual postings to the order/WBS element, and settle to the AuC or fixed asset during the balance sheet preparations or at the completion of the asset.
In this case, you then create the orders/WBS elements as investment measures, with the system automatically creating the AuC belonging to them. During a periodic settlement, the system then automatically settles internally to this asset under construction.
If you do not want the costs capitalized on the asset under construction to appear in cost accounting, see Note 48646.
If you want the posting on the AuC to be updated statistically nonetheless, see Note 50785.
    4. Maintain the investment order in the asset master.
    5. Define field CO/PP order or project in the field status group (in the additional account assignments group) as an optional entry (Transaction OB14).
    6. Set the indicator for statistical update in the default transaction type for "acquisition from goods receipt" for purchase orders/purchase requisitions.
    7. Check in 'Materials Management -> Purchasing -> Account Assignment -> Maintain account assignment categories' that the field for the overhead order (CO order) is not hidden for account assignment category A.
    8. Set the indicator for statistical update in the default transaction type for 'credit memo in following years' for credit memos in following years.
    9. For retirements, proceed according to Note 66333.
    10. Activate updating of commitments according to Note 47992.
    11. See Note 79078.
