If you want to transfer a G/L account transfer gross, no tax amount is calculated, and more than the expected net amount will be transferred.
Example
Amount Tax code
Debit posting 230.00 V1 Calculate taxes
Credit posting 230.00 V1
Taxes are always based on postings belonging to a tax code in the case of a 'Calculate taxes' transaction. If the balance is zero (if the sameamounts were entered in the debit and credit side), no taxes are calculated.
Normal G/L acount postings are usually tax-free, therefore it makes no sense to try to make a gross amount transfer posting. Additionally, the amount to be transferred always arrives as a net value (without taxes), so a gross amount would first have to be calculated.
Note:
Tax handling has changed in Release 2.2. Taxes are determined on document level and no longer on line level. In previous releases, the above example only functioned by chance.
a) Always enter net amounts.
b) If the original posting was made with an incorrect tax percentage rate, the net amounts should also be entered when making the transfer posting, and you should enter the tax amounts manually in the separate tax screen. This is the only way to guarantee that the original amountswill be transferred correctly, and that no variances between G/L accountand tax amount will occur. It is still, however, unclear why there was not an error when the original document was posted (the 'calculate taxes' function was probably used improperly there as well).
c) If different tax codes (with the same percentage rate) are used for debit and credit postings, taxes will be calculated. However, the validity of the document would be extremely questionable.
