SAP Note 19671 - Document entry in GLX - Number ranges

Symptom:

An update termination occurs in GB01 or GB11 with an error when writing the line items (message GI 201).

Cause and prerequisites

The error occurs under the following circumstances:
The number ranges are created year-dependently.
The number intervals for each year are the same or overlapping.
There is a non-calendar fiscal year for a ledger to be updated.
The cause for the error is that you can only use the year of the posting date to determine the document number in GB01/GB11, because you can update different ledgeers (with different fiscal year variants) with this specific transaction.

Solution
If you have a non-calendar fiscal year, you should choose a year-independent document number assignment for the document entry in the extended general ledger or you should make sure that the number intervals of the individual years do not overlap.
