SAP Note 13663 - Capital Lease - post acquisition

Symptom:

Application of the Capital Lease Method; an acquisition is to be
posted. How do I do that?

Cause and prerequisites
Solution
After an separate asset class has been created for the leasing procedure, which may only contain the depreciation areas that are necessary for this procedure, in this case, at least one asset master record, which must contain the LEASING type, the number of payments, the payment manner, the payment amount and the annual interest rate, among other things in the LEASING specifications, can be created for the depreciation area Commercial Law (01) to which a depreciation key was allocated for LEASING (for example, in the standard system the key 'LEAS' from the chart of depreciation '0US').
The system automatically calculates the present value of the leasing asset from these specifications and enters it in the asset master record.
The actual acquisition posting to this asset is carried out via master data maintenance (menu or function key).
One document is created which posts the asset with the present value and creates a vendor item for every payment to be made. The vendor items only differ from each other in their baseline dates for payment, that is, the obligation of the vendor (lessor) takes immediate effect as of the posting date of the document; Thus, no recurring entries are created for the individual payments.
At the end of the year the payables that do not yet concern the current fiscal year are automatically taken into account via the balance sheet adjustment -> OI sorted list and also automatically for the balance sheet. Adjustment postings are created. This is done via FI.

Key word: LEASING
