SAP Note 12831 - Function module inactive after upgrade; texts gone

Symptom:

1. Function modules in an active enhancement are not active after
an upgrade

2. Menu texts maintained by customer disappear after an upgrade

3. Subscreens, GUI user interface, text elements from enhancement
projects are deleted during the upgrade process

Cause and prerequisites

1. Transport the function group (of the function module)

2. Transport the menu user interface

3. Transport the function group

Solution
For 1 and 2: Manually activate the affected enhancement projects: Deactivate them (maintain the menu texts again when necessary) and activate them again.
or
Use report RSMODRES to restore everything.
For 3. Corrected in Release 3.0.
Until then: use version management for manual restore
(also see Note 10198).
ad 1. The attached report lists all inconsistencies concerning the active function module in inactive projects or all inactive modules in active projects. It also provides a jump to CMOD. Due to its simple structure the report can also be started in Release 3.1.
You can use the source code from the note and start it after a hot package or upgrade. This way you can check whether any inconsistencies occured during the application of the hot package or upgrade.
