SAP Note 12737 - Value of GR for recursive subcontract orders

Symptom:

When goods are received for a recursive subcontract order (the material delivered was material provided to the subcontractor) and posted to the stock of a material with moving average price control, the value of the subcontract work is included proportionally in the valuation of the quantity to be debited of the material provided (recursively) to the subcontractor.

Cause and prerequisites

A "value-lock" table in the program determines the value. Here, goods movements are updated in the sequence in which they are entered on the screen and processed in the program. This is why the receipt of the material manufactured is initially updated inclusive of the value of the subcontract work and the proportion consumed of the recursive material subsequently debited.

Solution
1. For transactions that already exist, you can subsequently debit the
excess value of the material originally debited to the consumption
account to the material stock using the transaction "Enter invoice".
2. In future, please use different material numbers, so that there is
no recursivity.
3. When you change the price control to S (standard price control), then
the problem will no longer exist.
4. When you use a material with split valuation, you can use different
valuation types for the material provided and for the material
delivered. Then, the problem will not occur.
5. When you implement the following correction, the "value-lock" table
contained in the program will not be updated in respect of the
goods receipt item before the posting occurs. Consequently, the
system determines the GR value without taking the proportional value
of the subcontract work into account. This correction is described
in the 3.0 version. It can be installed in Releases 2.1x and 2.2x
accordingly.
6. As of Release 3.0D, this problem will no longer occur. Since this
further development involves comprehensive program changes and since
these program changes are interconnected with substantial program
changes for several other developments, we trust that you will
appreciate that we are not able to make this further development available to you on a separate basis

Key word: Subcontracting
